The eXtremeAir CPC hand dryer and steriliser is a tremendous advance in hand drying technology. Hygiene :

The eXtremeAir CPC hand dryer uses patent pending Cold Plasma Clean technology, also known as bipolar ionisation, to generate a sanitisation field around the hands and inside the dryer. It works to ensure the breakdown of bacteria and small viruses and to maintain a clinically hygienic internal dryer. We cannot emphasis sufficiently just how significant this fact is; it quite simply makes using the unit more hygienic than using any other hand drying method. The hand dryer works by using steady-state positive and negative discharge points to split water molecules in the air into oppositely charged hydrogen and oxygen ions, these ions turn into hydroxyl (OH•) radicals on the cell membrane surfaces to rob the harmful substance of a hydrogen atom (H), severing the protein walls of the cell membrane inactivating them. CPC technology breaks down harmful pathogens into simple, safe, naturally occurring molecules, and has been approved by the California Air Resources Board (CARB), one of the world’s most stringent bodies for air safety testing. It is important to note that the technology should not be confused with ozone which is unstable and unsafe for human inhalation. CPC technology versus HEPA filters: A HEPA filter works by filtering harmful microbes from the air to ensure the air with which we dry our hands is clean. HEPA filters, however, don’t contribute to the actual cleaning of the hands, they merely prevent the hands from being dried with dirty air. Therefore, the benefits delivered by a HEPA filter are minor with regards hand hygiene in comparison to CPC technology. In addition, a further negative for the HEPA filter is that it requires cleaning and maintenance, whilst CPC is maintenance free
