ExtremeAir GXT | Black | 68 - 83 dbA | American Dryer | Ultra Compact
Low Energy | High Speed | 10 - 12 Second Drying Time
This is the entry level eXtremeAir model, the most compact hand dryer in the industry, which presents outstanding value for money when compared to other high quality, branded high speed hand dryers in its category. Innovative technology allows the hand dryer to be adjusted to your preference, giving you a superb balance of speed, energy efficiency and sound. The eXtremeAir is ideal for sports stadiums, schools and libraries.
A high velocity hand dryer, eXtremeAir will really make the skin on your hands ripple and give a speedy dry. A flexible hand dryer, it offers the option to either add or remove heat to either reduce energy consumption or speed up the dry time. Even with heat, the eXtremeAir is only a 1.5kw rated unit and can operate effectively on as little as 0.3kw. The adjustable motor and optional heat enables noise levels to be altered to best suit different areas of the location.
Speed :
Manufacturer specified dry time of 10-12 seconds
Noise :
Manufacturer stated 68 to 83 dB(A)
Typically, the sound level of a hand dryer is measured in decibels dB(A) at a distance of one metre within a soundproofed chamber. However, this measurement does not take into account the increase in noise that occurs when hands are placed under the dryer or the impact of sound bouncing off the walls. Wherever possible, we provide the manufacturer dB(A) level alongside two independent test results, which are more reflective of real conditions.
Using its maximum speed setting, the eXtremeAir is undoubtedly a loud hand dryer, slightly below that of the Xlerator. Despite this, with its adjustable motor, the noise level can be significantly lowered when required and still deliver an effective dry.
Usage :
The eXtremeAir is ideal for high traffic locations
Energy Efficiency :
The energy efficiency of a hand dryer is calculated by dividing the rated power by its dry time, this reveals how many watts the hand dryer is using.
As the eXtremeAir features an adjustable motor and optional heater element, the energy consumption will depend on the setting. For example, the dryer will give the speediest dry at the maximum power of 1.5kw, however with the heat turned off, the dryer will still be very fast (maybe losing 1-2 seconds in dry speed) but will consume one third of the rated power.
• Manufacturer's energy consumption per dry - 1.66 to 4.16 watts
Based on a 12p per kw of electricity unit cost, the eXtremeAir would cost around 0.02 to 0.06p (£0.0006) per average drying cycle, therefore 1,000 dries could be achieved for approximately 20-60p.
Hygiene :
The eXtremeAir has no notable hygiene features other than the standard hands free operation, and the fact that it delivers a quick and thorough dry (this is thought to be the most important aspect of hand hygiene).
Product Longevity :
The eXtremeAir has one of the best brush motors we have encountered. US data gives the product an average 12 year lifespan and failure of the unit is not anticipated before 900,000 cycles.
Forr a typical office with 9-5 working hours you will be looking at around 4.5 dries per person and for school pupils 3 dries per person per day. You can therefore calculate the number of uses per year and estimate when the brushes will need changing.
Installation :
Being a relatively lightweight model, the eXtremeAir hand dryer is suitable for even low load bearing walls, and boasts a simple standard installation. The dryer configures itself to your voltage, making installation easier.
Vandal Resistance :
The eXtremeAir is an incredibly robust hand dryer. It comprises of an indestructible one piece fixed nozzle, two tamper-resistant screws that secure the heavy-duty cover to its steel base, and a motor, heater and electronics which are all inaccessible to vandals. The shape of its outer shell prevents anyone from gaining a grip on the hand dryer to pull it from the wall; its compact size gives it strength as does its steel back plate. This eXtremeAir is built to last.
User Friendliness :
From an accessibility perspective, the eXtremeAir is fantastic for disabled users, however, it is advisable to reduce the motor speed within disabled washrooms to ensure the noise level is appropriate for wheelchair users who will be positioned closer to the source of the sound.
