High Speed :
Manufacturer states a dry time of 12 seconds
The mighty Dyson Airblade motor spins at 90,000 times a minute which creates an air force capable of drawing in 35 litres of air a second through its HEPA filter. Using its two ultra-thin long outlets, two blades of air are produced with the incredible velocity of 430 mph; it is this extreme force that removes moisture from the hands.
Noise :
Manufacturer stated 81 dbA
Dyson redesigned the Airblade with the aim of reducing the noise produced by the air rush and from the motor. As a result of this re-engineering, the AB14 is 50% quieter than its predecessor, a fact confirmed by independent testing conducted within an an-echoic (soundproof) chamber at the British Research Establishment. The data produced through this testing measured the AB14 DB at 85 dbA from one metre, giving a 5 dBA reduction from the Mark 1 Dyson Airblade (10 dBA being representative of a doubling in sound (100%) change).
High Traffic :
Recommended for High usage washrooms with over 300 uses per day
Energy Efficienct :
Dyson Airblade uses 4.44 watts per dry
The Airblade is not the most energy efficient hand dryer, ranking outside the top 10 dryers in this regard. The Dyson Airblade has a documented carbon footprint and is on the enhanced capital allowance scheme for eco, high speed hand dryers.
The Dyson Airblade has a fully documented carbon footprint and every component is recyclable. The product is also on the governments ETL list for energy efficient products that qualify for tax breaks. Dyson have compared the Airblade’s carbon usage against that of the paper towel; they have evidenced the environmentally friendly nature of the product with their findings, which show that each hand dry uses a mere 3.3g of carbon against the significantly higher 12.5g of the paper towel.
Hygiene :
Due to the design of the model it is of course non-touch and comes with a HEPA filter and boasts anti-bacterial surfaces.Un-hygienic air is forced through the filter, capturing 99.9% of bacteria, thus ensuring that hands are dried with clean air.
Product Longevity :
With a 5 year guarantee, the Dyson Airblade ™ hand dryer is built to last. Even so, many components are designed to be recyclable with negligible environmental impact. This long-life energy efficient motor is digitally switched at 6,000 times per second, making the high compression fan spin 90,000 times a minute, giving an airspeed of 430mph. With only three moving parts so there are no slip rings or carbon brushes to wear down.
Vandal Resistant :
The model is remarkably vandal resistant, also due to its compact form, having no parts with which to gain leverage.has undergone extensive testing for durability and its ability to withstand physical and chemical abuse. With its ultra strong construction, the Airblade hand dryer is ideal for high usage locations and for areas at risk of vandalism.
User Friendliness :
We would advise that the Dyson Airblade AB14 is not really suited for disabled users due to its loud noise levels and no water catchment area so excess water drips on the floor. Also, as with most “hands in” hand dryers, the position of the hands becomes an issue and makes them not very accessible.
